Case Study: Badger Bushcraft
The Client:
Badger Bushcraft, founded by Phil Brown provides bushcraft and primitive technology courses for private groups and schools in and around Kent.
The Project:
A website was required for Badger Bushcraft that would form a key part of the marketing strategy in terms of profile building, supporting other marketing initiatives and generating inquiries for bushcraft courses in and around Kent.
The main structure of the site was developed with the client that could provide a range of good quality and interesting information to visitors to the site, whist also creating additional keyword content for search engines.
Web page designs for the website were then created and refined in photoshop, with the designs being forwarded to selected individuals who represented the target market for comment. The designs developed focused on simple website navigation with strong impact imagery and a more organic feel.
The website was then developed using the Joomla! content management system, with bespoke flash content, JQuery Javascript functionality and custom PHP scripts. Numerous Joomla extensions were incorporated within the site to enhance functionality or to simplify site updates for the client. Many of these extensions were tweaked quite heavily and had custom css styling applied to create the desired results.
Timescales on this project were fairly tight, however, the whole site was created successfully from inception to completion within 6 weeks and featured the following:
- Joomla! Content Managed Website
- Blog, News & Events Sections
- Videos Section (YouTube Based)
- Photography Gallery
- A Live Twitter Feed, Other Social Networking Links & Bookmarking
- Article Commenting
- Visitor Registration & Registered User Areas
- Flash Content
- Feedback & Contact Forms
- Google Analytics
- Training:
- Joomla! - Editing Existing Pages & Creating New Pages
- Search Engine Optimisation Strategy
- Search Engine Optimisation of Articles
- Optimising Images For The Web
- Google Analytics
Since it's creation the Badger Bushcraft website has grown significantly in size and popularity due to the regular addition of blog, news, video and gallery pages by the client, and visitor numbers continue to grow month by month.
The website is also performing well in search engines for a wide variety of terms including "bushcraft blog" and many niche and geo-targeted keyword phrases.
